Timm van der Gugten, hailing from Sydney with Dutch heritage, made his international debut for the Netherlands just a few months after his first taste of first-class cricket for New South Wales in 2011. In 2012, he shifted his base to Tasmania, where he faced challenges in breaking into Sheffield Shield cricket. However, he contributed significantly for the Tigers in the Ryobi Cup.
Van der Gugten showcased his talent and skills as one of the Netherlands’ top performers during the 2014 World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. He made a significant impact by dismissing prominent figures in world cricket, including Ross Taylor, Brendon McCullum, Martin Guptill, and JP Duminy. Notably, he also secured the crucial wicket of Eoin Morgan during the Dutch side’s remarkable victory over England.
