Suraj Randiv initially missed out on selection for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, but his opportunity on the world stage arrived when he was called up to replace the injured Angelo Mathews, leading to his participation in the tournament’s final against India.
Randiv’s journey in cricket began with his first-class debut in 2004. However, it wasn’t until the 2008-09 domestic season that he made a significant impression, eventually earning his place in the Sri Lankan national team. His one-day international debut came in late 2009, followed by a Test debut against India six months later.
As a bowler, Randiv is known for his classical approach. He doesn’t rely on flashy deliveries but instead utilizes flight, dip, and bounce to trouble opposing batsmen. After a period of absence from the national side, he made a return during the ODI series against India in November 2014 and secured his second appearance in the World Cup in 2015. His most recent Test match took place in 2012.
