In 2013, Shabnim Shangase earned her spot on the KZN girls’ under-19 cricket team. Her journey continued, and two years later, she progressed to the senior side, where she also assumed leadership responsibilities. During her tenure with the same side in early 2018, the versatile allrounder showcased her batting prowess by notching an unbeaten century, a remarkable feat where she carried her bat throughout the entire innings.
Shangase made her T20 International debut for South Africa in May 2019, donning the national colors against Pakistan. In a remarkable display of her skills, less than six months later, she posted impressive figures of 0.3-0-0-2, contributing significantly to her team’s resounding 105-run victory over India. Her consistent performances earned her a place in South Africa’s squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020.
