Born in South Africa, Neil Wagner embarked on his first-class career with Northerns during the 2005-06 season. In 2006-07, he gained valuable experience by touring Zimbabwe and Bangladesh with a South African national academy side. Although he initially served as the 12th man in two Tests for the Proteas, Wagner eventually decided to seek new opportunities and made a significant move to New Zealand.
Known for his prowess in swinging the ball, Wagner showcased his skills at the domestic level before becoming eligible to represent his adopted nation, New Zealand. Following his Test debut in 2012, he has participated in 16 matches and achieved an impressive record of 58 wickets.
