Najibullah Zadran, a versatile cricketer who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm off-spin, began his journey with the Afghanistan national team in 2011, representing his country in the ICC Under-19s Cricket World Cup Qualifier held in Ireland. It was there that he first donned the Afghan colors and showcased his emerging talent.
His one-day international debut arrived just a year later, as he faced Ireland in Dublin. On his debut, Zadran contributed 23 runs, marking the start of his senior international career. Following this, he became a part of the Afghanistan squad that embarked on a tour of Australia and New Zealand in preparation for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. During these warm-up matches and series against Pakistan A and New Zealand A in November, Zadran’s abilities started to shine through.
A notable highlight came as he played a key role, scoring an unbeaten 60 for Afghanistan A against Pakistan A, further solidifying his place in the national team and raising hopes for his prospects in the upcoming World Cup.
