Max Sorensen, a right-arm fast-medium bowler, was born in Johannesburg but relocated to Dublin in 2007 to join the Hills in the Leinster League. He earned his spot in the Ireland squad for the Kenya tour in February 2012 and made his debut in first-class cricket during an Intercontinental Cup match against Kenya. His first appearance in a one-day international came in a match against England in September 2013. Sorensen received a call-up to the Ireland squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in mid-January as a replacement for the injured Tim Murtagh. At the time of his selection, Sorensen had participated in eight ODIs, achieving a high score of 31 and claiming his best figures of 4-40 against Scotland in September 2014.
