Maisy Gibson originates from the Hunter region in New South Wales. Her cricket journey was marked by two knee reconstructions, which brought challenging times. However, in 2014, fortune smiled upon Gibson when she achieved the distinction of becoming the first female to play first-grade cricket in Maitland. In 2015, she was chosen to represent the Cricket NSW Female Development squad in Sri Lanka, furthering her cricketing experience.
In 2019, Gibson made the move from New South Wales to Tasmania. This change of scenery proved fruitful for her, as she thrived in the apple isle. Notably, in 2020, she was honored as Tasmania’s Female Tigers Player of the Year. During that season, she showcased her all-around capabilities, taking 10 wickets and maintaining an average of 30 with the bat. One standout moment included an excellent innings of 57* against Victoria.
Unfortunately, the year took a turn when Gibson sustained an ACL injury, necessitating her third knee reconstruction. Nonetheless, she demonstrated resilience and made a remarkable comeback to competitive cricket, marking her return after almost 700 days in a match against Queensland in late 2021.
