Lahiru Thirimanna’s cricketing prowess was evident from an early age, and he made his debut in the Sri Lankan one-day international team in January 2010 when he was selected to face India. He started his ODI career with a score of 22 in his debut match, but further opportunities in the ODI format were limited until 2012. Over the years, Thirimanna has become a regular member of the Sri Lankan team, amassing more than 100 ODI appearances and scoring over 2500 runs. His approach in ODI cricket offers a more measured style alongside Sri Lanka’s power-hitters. Notably, his first one-day century played a pivotal role in Sri Lanka’s victory at Adelaide Oval in 2013, and he continued to make significant contributions with two centuries and four fifties in 2014. In the Test arena, Thirmanna has recorded one century in his 26 appearances.
