About Dean Elgar
Dean Elgar, a resolute left-handed opening batsman for South Africa, displayed his leadership skills by captaining the South Africa Under-19s during their tour of Sri Lanka in 2006. His debut for the Proteas took place in November 2012, six years after he had first appeared in first-class cricket for Free State.
Throughout his Test career, Elgar has demonstrated his proficiency with eight centuries, attaining his highest score of 140 against New Zealand in 2017.
