Annabel Sutherland, long identified as a player of immense potential, embarked on her cricketing journey by debuting for the Melbourne Renegades in the WBBL at a tender age of 15. She subsequently made her mark in the WNCL by representing Victoria. Sutherland later transitioned to the Melbourne Stars, and her early promise earned her a place on overseas tours with the Australia Under-19s as well as a spot in the National Performance Squad.
However, Sutherland’s significant breakthrough came in early 2020 when she donned the T20I jersey for the first time against England in preparation for the T20 World Cup. Her stellar performances in that tournament culminated in a World Cup victory, adorning her neck with a well-deserved winners’ medal. In 2021, she achieved another milestone by making her Test debut against India, earning the coveted Baggy Green cap. Her involvement in the Australia side’s undefeated campaign in the 50-over World Cup in New Zealand showcased her remarkable start to her international career, hinting at a promising future ahead.
