Angela Reakes honed her cricket skills in a backyard net thoughtfully constructed by her father on their property in Knockrow, nestled on the NSW North Coast near Byron Bay. Demonstrating her talent from a young age, she led the NSW teams at the under-15, under-17, and under-18 levels.
In 2008, Reakes received a significant opportunity when she was chosen to represent a NSW XI against India. Remarkably, she managed to juggle her cricket commitments and HSC exams, making a swift trip to Sydney for the match. Her dedication to the sport was evident.
The following year, the leg-spinner relocated to Sydney and promptly secured her spot in the NSW Breakers squad, marking her WNCL debut at the outset of the 2009-10 season. Known for her ability to take crucial wickets, Reakes invested substantial effort in refining her game. She received valuable coaching from former Australian leg-spinners, Stuart MacGill and Olivia Magno.
Notably, Reakes has already represented the Australian Youth team, demonstrating her potential. Her ultimate aspiration is to earn a coveted place in the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars. In pursuit of this goal, Reakes made the strategic move from NSW to the ACT Meteors for the 2015-16 WNCL season.
As she continues to progress in her cricketing journey, Reakes’ primary objective for the upcoming season is to ascend higher up the batting order and establish herself as a reliable allrounder, making her an asset to any team.
