Amanda-Jade Wellington began her cricketing journey on a promising note, becoming the youngest player ever to represent the Scorpions in a senior match. In recognition of her talent and dedication, Wellington was chosen, alongside Alex Price, to join the Australia A Women’s squad for the 2015-16 season. Her selection was well-deserved, considering her exceptional performance for the Scorpions during that season. Wellington excelled as the leading wicket-taker in both the 50-over and T20 formats. In total, she claimed 25 wickets while also contributing with the bat, making significant contributions to her team’s success. A significant milestone in Wellington’s career was her international debut for Australia, which took place during a one-day game against South Africa in 2016. However, it was her remarkable delivery that bowled Tammy Beaumont during the 2017 Ashes Test that made headlines around the world, showcasing her exceptional talent as a leg-spinner. Although she faced a period of absence from the national side in 2018, Wellington remained a dominant force at the domestic level.
