Alana King initially made her presence felt as a promising young leg-spinner renowned for her ability to extract substantial turn from the pitch. Her progression through various levels of Victorian cricket led to her inclusion in the VicSpirit squad for the first time during the 2016-17 season.
Having represented Victoria in under-15s and under-18s cricket, King’s journey took her to the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) during its inaugural season. With a keen eye on achieving greater success, King dedicated herself to honing her skills, even relocating to Western Australia to pursue more extensive opportunities.
Her unwavering commitment bore fruit during the breakout WBBL|06 season with the Stars, earning her a place in the team of the tournament. The following summer in 2021-22 proved to be nothing short of a dream come true. First, she played a pivotal role in guiding the Perth Scorchers to the WBBL|07 title. Subsequently, King received her maiden call-up to the Australian squad for the Ashes series, marking her debut in all three formats of the game within a span of three weeks.
Her journey culminated in an integral role during Australia’s triumphant 50-over World Cup campaign in New Zealand, where she played a key part in the team’s success.
